Arranmore is 5 km off the coast of Donegal. It`s population of just under 500 people depend mainly on tourism and some fishing to make a living.
It has been inhabited since pre-Celtic times but retains only a few signs of any early settlement. The island is in the Donegal Gaeltacht so most of the inhabitants speak Irish.
Tory island is 14.5 km off Donegal. The island is strong links to Irish history and mythology. It is also an island of Irish speakers and has been inhabited since 2500BC.
We will meet at the beautiful Waterfront Hotel in Dungloe, where we will base ourselves for the weekend.
There will be dinner in the hotel each evening and a bus will bring the group to the ferry each morning.
The walks will be approximately 10km on each island and the group will have a local guide and an Into the West Adventures guide with them.
Bus and ferry times will be confirmed closer to the time.
Hiking boots, rain gear, fleece, hat, gloves and a packed lunch are essential for this weekend. If you are not adequately prepared the guide may refuse to allow you to participate.
